To increase the yield of lumber cut for construction- and furniture production without sacrificing e.g. strength parameters in the final products, several industrial processes for manufacturing wood based systems have been developed. Binding agents are essential parts therein. For both technical and commercial reasons formaldehyde based systems became widely accepted as preferred glue systems.

Metadynea, which is involved in developing glues and resin systems for many applications throughout the wood based panels industry since the early 1960′s, has a long and deep understanding of our customers’ processes. We work together with our customers to optimize the performance of our resins in their production processes.

Thanks to the long-time experience we know and respect the importance of consistent product quality, safety of supply and timely deliveries. Our product range includes multiple grades with a focus of our activities in the area of low-emission resins and increased output.

Particle Board (PB)

Thanks to our long-time experience in supplies of binder solutions to particle board producers, we are able offer consistent product quality, safety of supply and timely deliveries.

Our product range includes several grades, although we have concentrated our activities mainly in the area of low-emission resins. Liquid urea resins are used for interior applications; melamine-urea resins are used when a degree of moisture resistance or dimensional stability is required.

The benefits of these resins include, among others, extremely low formaldehyde emissions – according to all relevant standards, from E1 to ½ and 1/3 E1, fast cure for short press times and high plant capacities; moisture resistance for use in humid conditions and for outdoor applications; tolerance to different wood species as well as variations in fibre humidity, as well as improved surface quality, e.g. in terms of treatment with lacquers and varnishes.

Metadynea, as a part of Dynea, that has been involved in creating glues and adhesive systems for particle board manufacture since the early 1960′s, has a long and deep understanding of our customers’ processes. We work together with our customers to optimise the performance of our resins in their production processes.

Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF)

Metadynea’s MDF resins offer low emissions, moisture resistance, fast cure, tolerance to different wood species and variations in fibre humidity.

Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) is used mainly by the furniture industry, but also for interior mouldings as well as substrates for laminate flooring. The homogenous structure of the MDF board gives it good bending strength, smooth surface and good screw retaining properties, making it suitable for many different applications. The vast majority of applications do not require a water-resistant adhesive. Liquid urea resin is preferred in MDF production based on its fast curing and low cost. To a lesser extent melamine-urea resins are also used to manufacture MDF when a degree of moisture resistance or dimensional stability is required.

Oriented Strand Board (OSB)

Oriented strand board (OSB) is a modern structural panel created from small diameter round wood/secondary wood.

Metadynea provides solution for OSB markets by supplying liquid melamine-urea and melamine-urea-phenol resin adhesives.

OSB is used in technical and non-technical applications by the construction and packaging industry. Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL)

As a load-bearing product, LVL is typically used for floor joints and lintels, and for all kinds of roof designs such as joist and aperture beams.

Metadynea has been closely involved in the development of LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber) to create optimal glues and adhesive systems for the LVL production process.

Metadynea’s technical service personnel, with their deep understanding and hands-on experience of customers’ mills and gluing processes work to constantly improve the performance of our adhesives in our customers’ processes.

Metadynea offers more than just resins to the customer. Our solutions’ offering includes glue solutions, glue kitchen optimisation, resin ordering process rationalization, and more.

Products
Prefere 15J620
This resin is used in LVL production, which is specially designed for softwood. At using of this resin possible to produce LVL up to 120 mm, it’s usually used with a hardener.

Plywood (PLW)

For exterior applications Metadynea offers weather-resistant phenolic or melamine resins, while for interior applications urea or urea-melamine resins are available.

Thanks to five decades of working closely with plywood manufacturers, machine producers, and research organizations, Metadynea together with Dynea has gained a deep understanding of our customers’ manufacturing processes. So we have developed in close cooperation with our customers resins with improved properties and economics.

In the vast combination of different application methods, wood species and production circumstances, the role of our technical sales service is essential. They understand how the operational parameters at our customers’ mills affect the adhesive formulation and glue performance, and combine the most suitable resin with the best possible filler-hardener to bring you state-of-the-art solutions that fulfill your performance and economic requirements.

We offer individual urea formaldehyde(UF) and melamine modified urea formaldehyde (mUF) resins fulfilling E1 as well as CARB II.
Prefere 14J620
Standard PF resin, used in plywood production, which can be made of veneer hardwood and softwood. Resin 14J620 provides ULEF level formaldehyde emission. Possible to use this resin with hardeners.
Prefere 14J630
Slightly modified standard PLW resin with a bit higher viscosity that Prefere 14J620. It is used in plywood production, which can be made of veneer hardwood and softwood. Resin 14J630 provides ULEF level formaldehyde emission. Possible to use this resin with hardeners.

Impregnation (IMP)

Specialty papers, such as decor, overlay, corunded overlay and backing papers, impregnated with melamine and urea resins are used for manufacturing laminates and in further processing of wood based panels.

Metadynea offers market leading melamine-formaldehyde and urea-formaldehyde resins for manufacturers of impregnated papers used for production of direct pressed laminates (LPM, furniture and laminate flooring), laminates (HPL, CPL), edge banding, finished foils, as well as for direct print applications.

Due to the long term engagement in the industry, Metadynea has an understanding of the various processes and technologies used for impregnation and lamination.

Impregnation Line

Metadynea’s commitment to the industry is underlined and the understanding of our industry’s processes is supported by a state-of-the-art pilot impregnation line at the Technology Center located in Krems, Austria. The pilot line is used internally for product development but also accessible by our business partners and interested third parties.
