Metadynea is running  the most advanced industrial resin production in Russia. Process  development, construction and  implementation is done based on leading European know-how and expertise.

High level of automation and possibility to precisely adjust every batch results in high quality resins with a high stability of parameters in every batch. So our customers are able to work without any adjustments in their process from one delivery to another.

Our plant laboratories are equipped with the most modern equipment to make precise measurements not only to fufill the standard requirements but also to follow and control non-standard quality parameters of resin, including real-time parameters of synthesis.

The analysis of produced resin is made not only at the end of synthesis but also during the storage time till the end of shelf life. This assures high quality of resin and will guarantee the same to our customers.

Metadynea has a research and development center in Austria. R&D center with the most modern analytical equipment, laboratory sized reactors for trial synthesis, pilot  line for resin application and presses for wood gluing. The existing equipment allows us to test resin properties and to simulate industrial results and behavior of the resin.

Metadynea continuously develops its products to maintain the leading position in the Russian resin markets. We constantly invest in the improvement of existing processes and in the development of fundamentally new resins.

Urea-Formaldehyde (UF)

UF resins and adhesives are classified as thermosetting polymers and are produced by a condensation polymerization reaction between urea and formaldehyde. These UF polymers have proven to be excellent adhesives for wooden materials. Due to their high reactivity and cost efficiency, they are the most popular binders for interior products.

Metadynea delivers UF resins and adhesives in liquid form with a wide range in viscosity, solids content, and molar ratio. When needed Metadynea tailor-makes products for each customer. This customizing involves designing the resin for the viscosity, solids content, reactivity, tack, and emission properties to meet the specified process and environmental needs. Our UF products are environmentally friendly and capable of meeting or exceeding the various performance criteria required by the different standards of ANSI, NPA, ASTM, EN, and ISO.

Melamine-Urea-Formaldehyde (MUF)

MUF resins and adhesives are classified as thermosetting polymers produced by a condensation reaction between melamine, urea and formaldehyde. These MUF polymers can be formulated to provide various degrees of water and weather resistance for use in exterior, humid and indoor climate. Added variation in viscosity and reactivity give these resins a wide application area, greatly exceeding that of UF resins.

Metadynea manufactures MUF resins in liquid form. The products are designed for use in the production of wood-based panels. Where applicable, our MUF products have been tested and approved by official testing bodies for use in the building industry.

Metadynea has developed a wide range of resin technologies to offer the best possible solution for the different process conditions employed by a variety of customers. Metadynea’s MUF resins and adhesives can be modified to meet specific plant performance criteria, including formaldehyde emission requirements, reactivity, tack, assembly time and physical properties. Our MUF products are environmentally friendly and capable of meeting or exceeding the various performance criteria required by the different standards like ANSI, NPA, ASTM, EN, and ISO.

Melamine-Formaldehyde (MF)

MF resins are aqueous solutions of rather low molecular condensation products of formaldehyde and melamine, in many cases modified with certain additives. These resins are characterised by 52 – 68% solid content, excellent penetration properties and a colourless and clear appearance.

MF resins are applied for paper impregnation; thereby resin penetrates into the paper and through a combined thermal pressing and curing process a composite of paper and polymer with superior surface properties can be produced.

Phenol-Formaldehyde Resol

In case of resols we talk about liquid resins of brown-reddish color.

Phenol-formaldehyde resols are used in many applications, such as plywood, OSB, LVL, mineral wool (insulation), laminates, abrasives, refractory, foundry, resins coated proppants and so Metadynea has a varied product portfolio to meet the different requirements including special resins for individual requests.

Resin production process has features depending on the application; however, they are largely similar.

Phenol-formaldehyde resins are produced in a batch process in cooled stainless steel reactors. A large amount of heat is obtained during the reaction between phenol and formaldehyde; it requires intensive cooling of the reactor.

First formaldehyde affiliates to phenol, then the derived products are condensed and, as a result, a polymer is obtained:

When the necessary parameters (molecular mass, viscosity or phenol/ formaldehyde content) are obtained, the resin is rapidly cooled and unloaded to the storage, ready for supply.

Phenol-Formaldehyde Novolacs

Novolacs are solid resins in form of flakes or pellets from clear-white to dark-brown color.

Novolacs are used in many automotive and engineering applications: abrasives, refractory, foundry, felts, frictions, resins coated proppants etc., also novolacs are used as a semi-finish products for producing of powder resins after additional actions.

A large amount of heat is obtained during the reaction between phenol and formaldehyde under acidic conditions; it requires intensive cooling of the reactor. First formaldehyde affiliates to phenol, then the derived products are condensed and, as a result, a polymer is obtained:

When the necessary parameters (phenol content, drop point or melt point) are obtained, the resin is unloaded at the belt, cooled and packing in bags and big-bags, ready for supply.

Phenol-Formaldehyde Powder

Powder resins are mix of novolac’s resin with additives in form of powder from white to brown color.

Powder resins are high-condensed novolacs with a low free phenol content, high softening point, medium to short flow and high melt viscosity. The novolacs resins are mixed with HMTA as hardener and then finely ground. Lower HMTA content leads to less cross-linking and to softer bonds.

High HMTA content results in higher cross-link density and thereby higher hardness and for example high resistance of the grinding wheel if we talk about abrasive industry. Besides adding HMTA used various other additives conferring special properties of the final powder.
